"Countdown" is the longest-running music show in
Australian television history. Created by Ian “Molly” Meldrum and
visionary ABC-TV producers, Countdown aired from 1974 to 1987,
launching the careers of countless international superstars including Blondie,
ABBA, Cyndi Lauper, and many more.
