The Great Gatsby

By Barry Lowe, Richard Kemp & Connor Hodges
From the novel by F Scott Fitzgerald
Adapted by Sale College

Sale College presents F Scott Fitzgerald's masterpiece adapted for stage; The Great Gatsby. Set in Jazz Age New York, the play tells the tragic story of Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, and his pursuit of Daisy Buchanan, a wealthy young woman whom he loved in his youth. The play explores the American dream gone sour. The greed and duplicity of US society in the 1920s through the eyes of the narrator, Nick Carroway. It's a story of glamour, love and betrayal depicting the lure of the rich and glamorous society of Long Island and New York – and how sometimes all that glimmers is not necessarily gold.

Produced in partnership with KCC Theatre and realised by Sale College students from years 7-12, The Great Gatsby promises to be a night of singing, dancing, extravagance and decadence.

Combining dynamic acting with a live choir and brilliant dance ensemble, the talents of a large ensemble cast are on show as they breathe new life into an ageless classic.
